All-Wheels Welcome

Tricycles big & small, wheelchairs, strollers, walkers, and those who have mastered the art of riding a two-wheeled bike, but aren’t prepared, willing, or able to pedal across three counties – this one is for you! Designed with inclusive participation for all in mind, this 3-mile course includes safe routes starting and ending at Washington County Fairgrounds. A refreshment stop mid-way consists of fresh fruit, water, and accessible porta-potties. It is a separate course from the three longer Harvest Century routes, none-the-less everyone will share in celebration at the finish line!

Bike Camp

Riding a bike is a right of passage for most individuals. It is a pleasure and a freedom we as adults often take for granted and sometimes even forget. For many children and adults born with a developmental disability, it seems impossible. Four years ago, two dedicated mothers brought the Bike First! program, in affiliation with Lose the Training Wheels™, to Portland to teach people with disabilities the skills needed to ride traditional bikes. The clinics have an 80% success rate! Bike First! is the host of the activities at the inclusive family event. Your participation in the Harvest Century provides several adults, whom Community Vision serves, the opportunity to attend Bike First! 2009. They will be showing off at the Harvest Century for sure!

Adaptive Cycling Equipment

Since not all participants in Bike First! clinics, are developmentally ready to ride a traditional bicycle, we’re making a grass roots effort to highlight the many available technologies available to individuals that need special or custom equipment to navigate the road safely. There will be hand-crank bikes, adult tricycles, balance bikes, and many other pieces of technology on hand for you to investigate. If you or someone you know has a clever bike to show off, please contact us.

Wheelchairs, Strollers, Walkers

We focus on people and their talents, dreams and abilities at Community Vision. If you share that philosophy, we’d like you to join us. Grab someone in your life and get ready to exercise and celebrate independence. Help support individuals to live in the home of their choice, to work a meaningful job, and achieve independence, pride, and community by raising money for our programs.

Volunteer & Cheer

Another fun way for your family to get involved is to volunteer on the course. There are many shifts and jobs available and it is always great to get a little friendly cheer from your loved ones as you make your way through the Harvest Century. If you choose to not join the activities on the routes, you are welcome to pack a picnic and enjoy the music and festive atmosphere free.
